Improve Scarring and Damaged Skin This June

Were you aware that Dr. Michelle Parsons, MD specializes in treating scars caused by acne? Acne scars are among the most persistent and disfiguring outcomes of severe acne cases. Thankfully, we at Renove Medical Spa have the techniques and services to address acne scars with good results.

Traditional Dermabrasion

Traditionally the treatment for deep acne scarring has been deep dermabrasion. Dermabrasion is not to be confused with micro-dermabrasion or dermaplaning, which are both very superficial treatments. Deep dermabrasion is a skin-resurfacing procedure that uses a rapidly rotating device to remove deeper and deeper layers of skin, and penetrates into the deep dermal layer, where the blood vessels and collagen are. It is this collagen layer where the collagen is damaged and causes the appearance of the acne scar. The key to a successful treatment to improve acne scarring, is to penetrate into this deep dermal layer, where the scar is.

Dermabrasion is typically painful, with a prolonged downtime, and higher risk of infection and further scarring. Luckily, there is an alternative to dermabrasion, and that is medical-depth micro-needling. Medical-depth micro-needling also penetrates deeply into the deep dermal layer of skin, where the abnormal collagen is from the acne scarring. When abnormal scarred collagen is penetrated with micro-needling, it must heal and form new collagen, that is laid down smoother and better matches the surrounding skin. And unlike the pain and prolonged down time of a deep dermabrasion treatment, medical-depth micro-needling is well tolerated and the healing time is fast. Microneedling performed by an aesthetician does not penetrate deeper than 0.5mm, while medical depth microneedling penetrates much deeper as needed, up to 4mm.

Medical-depth Microneedling penetrates deeper to treat acne scarring

We at Renove Medical Spa also use medical-depth microneedling to address fine lines and wrinkles, crepey skin on the arms, legs, and knees, stretch marks and surgical scars.

This month, in honor of June being Acne Awareness Month, we will be featuring all acne related treatments, such as medical depth microneedling, Bellafilll, chemical peels, blue light therapy, and acne skin care products. So if you ever thought about treating acne or acne scars, June is the month to do it!

Here's to YOU this June, Restore, Reclaim, Renove!

Blue Light Therapy

Blue light is utilized to target and kill propionibacterium acnes, the bacteria on our skin that causes acne. A blue light acne treatment is very helpful when used in combination with acne skin care products, to get bacteria and acne under control. The regular price for one Acne Blue Light treatment is normally $175. This month purchase 2 Blue Light treatments and receive the third treatment for free! That's only $350. Book your first appointment for your 3 Blue Light treatment package here.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are a great way to "reset" acne prone skin. Chemical peels help exfoliate and remove the top layer of thick skin that can clog pores and lead to acne. Chemical peels also help control and rebalance oil production, making skin less prone to forming acne going forward. Our Perfect Dermal Peel or VI Peel are normally $350. For the month of June, take $100 off either of these two Chemical Peels. Don't have acne and would like to enjoy a summer reset chemical peel as well? We won't tell! Book your summer chemical peel here.

Acne Skin Care

All products at Renove Medical Spa that can be used to address acne will be discounted 10% in June. You may come in for a complimentary consultation with our medical aesthetician for skin care product recommendations just for your skin.

Hormone Testing

We often see stubborn acne as a result of hormonal imbalances. Surprisingly, it is often not an excess of testosterone that causes acne, but rather a deficiency of progesterone that can lead to difficult to control acne. At Renove Medical Spa, Dr. Michelle Parsons, MD can test your hormones by ordering bloodwork, that we send to Labcorp, and provide suggestions or prescriptions to re-balance hormones.

Hormone testing is normally $550, but for the month of June, we will offer our extensive hormone evaluation and testing for $450. This testing includes a symptom evaluation, ordering lab tests, which may or may not be covered by insurance (we also offer inexpensive cash prices for testing through Labcorp) and then a comprehensive assessment of your hormonal needs, recommendations and prescriptions if warranted. Book your hormone evaluation blood testing here.
