Does the appearance of visible spider and varicose veins make you self-conscious about your skin? At Renove Med Spa, we offer safe laser spider vein removal to get rid of nuisance veins with minimal recovery or downtime.
Spider veins are enlarged unhealthy blood vessels that branch out along the lower legs, upper thighs, and sometimes face. They often spread over time and with age and can be removed via sclerotherapy or laser treatments. Removing spider veins through laser treatment is a simple process in which lasers send strong bursts of light into the vein that cause the vein to then fade and disappear. The procedure has some discomfort and can take up to 4 to 8 weeks to see the results.
How to prepare for the procedure
Before the procedure, we review your medical history and conduct a physical exam. This is the time for Dr. Parsons and you to discuss expectations, potential risks and outcomes of the procedure. You should also:
-
Avoid sunbathing, tanning beds or waxing for two weeks prior to the procedure.
-
Avoid aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs and herbal supplements due to increased risk of bleeding.
What to expect after the procedure
You may not see any significant changes until several weeks after the surgery. Multiple treatments may be required. Other post-procedure issues include:
-
Treated area may be pink or red for four to eight hours after treatment.
-
A slight stinging sensation, similar to a mild sunburn in the treated area. This sensation usually subsides within four to six hours. Cool packs or moist cloths may be applied to reduce the sensation.
-
Mild swelling in the treatment area that usually dissipates within several days.
In addition, you should:
-
Avoid applying makeup or lotion to the treated area for either 24 hours or until all signs of redness and stinging have dissipated.
-
Apply a good moisturizing lotion to the treated area twice daily for the duration of the treatments and for at least three months after final treatment.
